What comes to mind when we say Christ? An image? A film? A painting? Millions of diverse representations that, when linked together, form this being conceived as reality, which we call Christ?
And in that case, how could we represent something that is in itself nothing more than a chain of representations? Where is what we understand as "real" if we dedicate ourselves to representing something that is already a representation in itself? And even more, is it possible that what we call reality is, in turn, nothing more than an accumulation of representations?

Christ on stage does nothing more than deconstruct himself, and this play, like our process, consists of urging, witnessing, and participating in this deconstruction. The result is CHRIST: a performance that does not attempt to propose a historical or religious reading but rather puts five actors and three technicians on stage facing the difficulty of representing Christ.

CRISTO is the fifth production by the Teatro de Chile Company and is the result of a year of research. The first stage, which took place in Amsterdam, Netherlands, concluded with the presentation of a "work in progress," which was very well received by local audiences. Following a second stage in Santiago, funded by Fondart 2007, Teatro de Chile presents the play CRISTO at the Matucana 100 Cultural Center.
