King Plant is a monologue whose protagonist is a king in a vegetative state. Unable to move or speak, he engages in a long reflection based on what he observes, feels, and thinks over the course of an entire day.

Inspired by a true event that occurred in Nepal in 2001, Manuela Infante constructs the story of this character. A prince who, after killing his entire family, attempts suicide but fails. Becoming the sole survivor of the royal family, he is declared king of his country.

Why a king in a vegetative state? What is the power of an immobile king? How does he exercise that power? The theme of King Plant is power, the invisible power through which we govern and are governed; an impeccable, transparent power that ensures order and social productivity through disciplinary mechanisms based on self-control and self-censorship; a power of which we are all part, for which we are all responsible.
